Fortnight Fight!

As we have all read and heard, COVID 19 is the most lethal virus that has ever appeared, claiming tens of thousands of lives. It has not yet been suppressed. This storm appears to be intensifying daily. Doctors and Scientists have created a vaccine to protect individuals from the disease, but is it safe? Is it sufficient to take two immunization doses? Are we no longer in peril? When the news about the vaccination became public, we did not consider all these questions. As our government has arranged, the Indian population has worked properly.

First, every senior citizen received a vaccination. My father was among them. However, many of us are unaware that these senior individuals will spend the next two days in bed due to the after effects of the immunization. Any older adult may love their normal routine with their neighbors and friends, but when a situation such as this arises, they must travel this perilous path on their own. The same could be said for my father. Even after two days, he continued to experience dry cough and backache.

This caused us concern, so I stayed with him for a few days to care for him. We did have a hunch that he was perhaps covid-positive. During my stay with him, I learned how tough it is for elderly people to live alone, away from their children and this demon that hovers above us. After a physical examination yielded a good result, he was admitted to the hospital. That’s when we became aware of the truth. It took him 10 hours to get a bed and 12 hours to get a room during the second wave of Covid, when all the hospitals were packed with no open beds.

Now that the doctor has told me that he did not have any issues, I have shifted my focus to myself. I spent two days in close proximity with a Covid patient. Consequently, I too was required to undergo testing. My spouse told me about Practo when my family doctor was of no help (he ripped my ears out by saying horrible things) and when my family doctor was of no use. Practo is a medical application that allows you to connect with physicians online. This program grants us access to physicians of all specializations, with whom we may communicate for a charge. With the assistance of a Practo doctor, I obtained my medications and began my treatment.

It is one thing to read about this virus and receive news about it, but it is an entirely different matter to contract it. It practically saps your vitality. Before I was tested positive, the only symptoms I experienced were a severe headache and a mild shaking of the body. However, as the days went, I became increasingly weary with severe head and body pains. In addition to the medications provided by the Practo doctor, I was requested to take a few tests. Thanks to the pathology Center’s personnel, they are speeding around on their bicycles every hour to determine who needs them.

Despite having performed so many at-home tests, I had to visit to the hospital for a CT scan, unsure of whether it was a wise idea to do so. Whom shall I be able to contact with? Could I be invulnerable for a few hours…? These are the types of questions that cannot be addressed. I moved on by deciding to get my CT scan performed in a hospital. Because the hospital was 5 kilometers from my home, I had to hire a taxi.

Since many lives are at stake, it is imperative that you proceed with great caution from my front door to the hospital and back.

A simple two-hour task seemed to take all day.

JOURNEY FROM HOME TO HOSPITAL

Because it is the most popular alternative, I decide to walk rather than use the elevator. My cab was waiting when I reached the bottom of the sixth flight; I told the driver that I was Covid and wanted to get to the hospital for my exam. The man acknowledged my situation and said nothing in protest. I took all the necessary precautions, including donning a mask and gloves and wiping the taxi seat with sanitizer once I got to the hospital.

On the hospital grounds, a vaccination campaign was started. Other than the receptionist, no one else was wearing a mask as I hurriedly entered the hospital and explained my predicament. In the last few months, nothing had happened, so folks were idling. They are permitted to enter the hospital without a mask, but did they forget that a vaccination drive is currently taking place on the hospital grounds? I wanted to scream and warn everyone to be cautious because I was so upset. There is still Covid.

They should move aside so I may do my duty and leave, I had to say, adding that I am certain in my assertion. It’s important for people to realize that hospitals are the most infectious places on earth; they are not safe.

I arrived home feeling worn out. Since the morning, everything I did has had an impact on my physical appearance. I was utterly afraid for the next few days. My body and mind were being torn apart by loneliness, tiredness, weakness, and stress.

Covid is a threat rather than only a disease. I understood that this anguish is both physical and psychological. It’s not easy to stay in a room alone, cut off from your family and the outside world. It’s not only about getting some sleep; your health is entirely your responsibility. That obligation is enormous. For the sake of your family, you must heal and become well again.

This, in my opinion, is a struggle for the family as well as the afflicted person. I thought that while I was away from my husband and kids, they had gone through similar suffering, but with a different cause of anguish. Over the course of these 15 trying days, my children have discovered the most important lessons in life. Stay together, cooperate, enjoy the little things in life, and pray for humanity.

I can gladly claim that I and my father survived because of our FAMILY.

They are my sole source of strength. They are so far away yet are always with you, no matter what time it is.

The physical barrier between children and parents may have been caused by careers and jobs, but technology has closed that gap. I’ve only realized how afraid I am in the past two weeks. In addition to worrying about my father and my brother, who was hundreds of miles away but was still attempting to help us, I was also concerned about myself and what would happen to me tomorrow. It’s probable that the circumstances are comparable to those of the other people.

Technology has been a huge help in these awful circumstances. Help was just a phone call away. Healthy meals, family conversations, and moral support from my loved ones, friends, and elders helped my family and I find the strength to confront the gloom.

In addition, our stress levels and heart rates were continuously recorded. Regular vaporization and several customized therapeutic recommendations from my brother and his wife were really helpful to me.

We had the good fortune to make it through this experience and eventually recover our health. I fervently pray for everyone in my immediate vicinity to be in better health and for our planet to be a better place to live.

Dear readers,

I hope everyone is in good health. You shouldn’t stop taking precautions just because you received an immunization because the virus has not yet perished. Even after receiving all of the recommended vaccinations and booster shots, I have seen a few cases of Covid. You must move with all of your body parts intact, so please bring a mask and hand sanitizer. Continue to keep a social distance.

Since it is your civic responsibility, abide by the laws and teach others to do the same since the more normalcy there is in the world, the more at risk you are from harm.

Keep your family close and be grateful for each one. Physical separation is not important. You must develop a love for all people. “Heartfelt bonds as well as blood ties define a family.”

Thank you.

God Bless you all!
